対岸のタージ・マハルのほぼ真向かい、最も接近する。2009年12月20日
タージ・マハルも水に映った像もともに絵のように美しい。
ここには人影が見えない。なんとなく不自然な感じがしてきた矢先、タージマーハルの対岸でこちらに合図しているのを見て気付いた。ここに来てはいけないのだった。すぐに元来た道を走るようにして引き返す。捕まったら、罰金やら写真の没収やら、ややこしいかも知れない。
『Wikipedia』に引用された写真「Taj Mahal by Samuel Bourne, 1860｣は、ここから川上に進んでタージ・マハルを過ぎてすぐの地点で撮影したものと思われる。

この場所を建設地に選んだ理由の一つは、「ヤムナー川はアーグラ城塞のある場所で湾曲し、同じく河川が曲がったこの場所に建設すれば建物の姿が川面に映りシンメトリーの視覚効果が得られると計算された｣。

Water reflection
Taj Mahal is clearly reflected in the river.
Both Taj Mahal and its water reflection are picturesque.

The principal mausoleum was completed in 1648 and the surrounding buildings and garden
were finished five years later. Emperor Shah Jahan himself described the Taj in these words:

Should guilty seek asylum here,
Like one pardoned, he becomes free from sin.
Should a sinner make his way to this mansion,
All his past sins are to be washed away.
The sight of this mansion creates sorrowing sighs;
And the sun and the moon shed tears from their eyes.
In this world this edifice has been made;
To display thereby the creator's glory.
