ヤムナー河のタージ・マハル、波一つない貴重な映像。2009年12月20日

朝霧が晴れて、青い冬空に白い姿が映えて美しい。
正面から見た姿とは全く異なり、河の水が優しさを添えている。

廟堂のむこう、東側は集会場で、赤砂岩づくりの外観をもつ。
集会場の内部には迎賓などのための広い空間だけがある。

インド政府はタージ・マハルはパキスタン空軍の空爆の標的になりやすいと考えており、パキスタンとの緊張が高まった時期には、タージ・マハルに布をかぶせて偽装を行っている。また、容易に偽装できるよう、中央ドームの外壁にフックが打ち込まれている。

Water reflection.
The still water mirrored Taj mahal on the opposite bank of the Yamuna.

The tomb is the central focus of the entire complex of the Taj Mahal. This large, white marble
structure stands on a square plinth and consists of a symmetrical building with an iwan
(an arch-shaped doorway) topped by a large dome and finial. Like most Mughal tombs,
the basic elements are Persian in origin.

In 1942, the government erected a scaffolding in anticipation of an air attack by German
Luftwaffe and later by Japanese Air Force.During the India-Pakistan wars of 1965 and 1971,
scaffoldings were again erected to mislead bomber pilots.
