東京都武蔵村山市 2020.8.4 体長約33.7mm（尾鋏含む）

♂で体長の1/3ほどもある大きな尾鋏を持つ大型種。
この大鋏は伊達ではなく、狩の重要な道具である。
前方に曲げ伸ばし、器用に獲物の動きを封じて食べる。
♀の尾鋏は他のハサミムシ同様に♂より小さい。
灯下にいた。
分布：北海道、本州、四国、九州、南西諸島、
　　　温帯の広域
成虫出現月：ほぼ通年
幼虫／成虫食物：雑食性
